Our pool chemical service in Los Angeles is built for owners who like cleaning their own pool but want the water chemistry handled by someone who balances pools every day. You keep the net and the brush; we bring the test kit and the chemicals, dose what the water needs, and text you the numbers.

Clear water is not the same as balanced water: a pool can sparkle while high pH quietly weakens its chlorine. Chemistry-only visits catch that drift early, and because we are owner-operated, our owner does the testing himself.

What's Included in Pool Chemical Service

  • Free chlorine. The sanitizer available to kill germs. The CDC recommends at least 1 ppm in pools, or at least 2 ppm with stabilizer. (Source: CDC)
  • pH. Held inside the CDC's 7.0 to 7.8 range. Above 8.0, chlorine kills germs far less effectively; below 7.0, pipes and equipment corrode faster. (Source: CDC)
  • Total alkalinity. The buffer that keeps pH from swinging after rain, heavy use or a chemical dose.
  • Calcium hardness. Too low and water pulls calcium from plaster; too high and scale forms on tile and inside the heater.
  • Stabilizer (cyanuric acid). Shields chlorine from sunlight. The CDC's Model Aquatic Health Code caps it at 90 ppm for public pools, a sensible ceiling at home too. (Source: CDC MAHC)
  • Salt. Kept where your generator's manual says. Hayward's Aqua Rite, for example, runs best at 2,700 to 3,400 ppm; other brands run higher. (Source: Hayward)

Signs Your Pool Needs Chemical Service

  • A strong "chlorine" smell, or red, stinging eyes after a swim.
  • Cloudy water even though the filter runs every day.
  • White crust on the tile or rough patches on the plaster.
  • Chlorine that reads fine in the morning and near zero by evening.
  • A shelf of half-used bottles and no clear idea which one to use.

That sharp smell usually means chloramines, which form when chlorine combines with sweat, urine and other swimmer waste. (Source: CDC) Most U.S. health departments limit combined chlorine to 0.4 ppm or less. (Source: CDC) Clearing them takes a correctly sized shock dose, calculated from your readings rather than guessed.

Our Pool Chemical Service Process

  1. Baseline testOn the first visit we run all six readings and note your pool's volume, sanitizer type and equipment.
  2. Correct in orderAlkalinity first, then pH, then sanitizer, because each affects the next. Big corrections are split across visits so the water does not overshoot.
  3. Dose from our supplyWe bring the chemicals, measure them for your pool's size and add them where they will circulate.
  4. Protect from the sunStabilizer stays high enough to shield chlorine and low enough that it does not slow it down.
  5. Text the resultsYou get the photo and readings, plus a note if something, such as a dirty filter, needs attention.

Keeping Pool Chemicals Out of Your Home

Pool chemical injuries lead to about 4,500 emergency department visits a year in the U.S. (Source: CDC) In a CDC review of pool chemical injuries from 2008 to 2017, at least 56% happened at a residence, often from breathing fumes while opening containers or from chemicals left within reach of children. (Source: CDC MMWR)

When you use our pool chemical service in Los Angeles, the chlorine, acid and shock arrive with us and leave with us. If you keep any supplies at home, store them in their original containers, never mix products, and lock them away from kids and pets.

Pool Sanitizer Options Compared

OptionBest forTrade-offs
Liquid chlorineQuick corrections, and pools where stabilizer is already highShort shelf life; adds no stabilizer, so that is managed separately
Trichlor tabletsSteady feed through a floater or chlorinatorEvery tablet adds stabilizer, so levels creep up over a season
Salt chlorine generatorOwners who want steady chlorine without buying tabletsCell needs scale checks and salt must stay in the maker's range; see saltwater pool service
Cal-hypo shockPeriodic shockingAdds calcium, which matters in hard-water areas

If you would rather hand off the cleaning as well, weekly pool cleaning includes all of this chemistry plus skimming, brushing and vacuuming.

What Affects the Cost of Pool Chemical Service

  • Pool volume. More gallons take more chemical to move a reading.
  • Visit frequency. Regular visits keep corrections small; long gaps mean larger doses.
  • Sanitizer system. Salt pools use less purchased chlorine but need cell and salt checks.
  • Attached spa. A spa is tested and dosed separately at hot tub levels.
  • Starting balance. Very high stabilizer or calcium may call for a partial drain and refill first.

Pool Chemical Service in Los Angeles: Local Factors

Fill water varies across LA County, so pool chemical service in Los Angeles cannot follow one dosing routine. Burbank's water averaged 286 ppm of hardness in 2025, (Source: Burbank Water and Power) while most Long Beach homes got blended water averaging 76 ppm. (Source: Long Beach Utilities) Sun matters too: without stabilizer, chlorine in sunlight can lose half its strength in about 30 minutes. (Source: Wahman, U.S. EPA)

Why choose us

Why LA Pool Owners Choose Us for Pool Chemical Service

6 readings every visit

Every Number, Every Time

A quick strip test for chlorine and pH misses most of the picture. We test free chlorine, pH, total alkalinity, calcium hardness, stabilizer and salt on every visit, because a pool can pass the first two and still be scaling your heater or etching your plaster. All six numbers arrive in the text we send after the visit, along with a photo of the pool.

1 owner doing the dosing

One Person Who Knows Your Water

We send the same person to test and dose your pool on every visit, so the one reading this week's numbers remembers last month's. That history is how we catch stabilizer creeping up from tablets, salt dropping from a slow leak or calcium rising from topping off with hard water, and correct it gradually, before it ever shows up as cloudy water or scale.

0 contracts to sign

Month to Month and Fully Insured

Chemical service runs month to month with no contract, and you can cancel anytime. We are licensed and insured, so if testing points to an equipment problem, such as a salt cell that has stopped producing, the same company can diagnose and repair it. Call us 7 days a week, 6 AM to 10 PM, to get on the schedule.

FAQ

Pool Chemical Service FAQ

How often do you visit for chemistry-only service?

Most LA pools do best with a weekly chemistry visit, since sun and heat use up chlorine quickly. We will talk through what makes sense for your pool, its sanitizer system and how much it gets used.

Why does my pool smell like chlorine when the chlorine is low?

The smell comes mostly from chloramines, the compounds chlorine forms when it reacts with sweat, urine and body oils. A strong smell usually means the pool needs more free chlorine to break them down, not less.

Can you handle my spa's chemistry too?

Yes. Spas need a higher sanitizer level than pools, and the CDC recommends against using stabilizer or stabilized chlorine in hot tubs, so we test and dose an attached spa separately on the same visit.

My pool is clean but still cloudy. What is wrong?

Cloudy water usually points to low chlorine, high pH, high calcium or a dirty filter. We test first, correct the chemistry and check filter pressure, and if the filter is the problem we can clean it for you.
